NLM/Gokul Mission/Nabard
The National Livestock Mission (NLM) is a government initiative aimed at developing the livestock sector in India. It focuses on increasing livestock productivity, promoting entrepreneurship in animal husbandry, and supporting feed, fodder, and breeding infrastructure. The mission provides financial assistance and technical support to farmers, cooperatives, and businesses engaged in livestock farming, ensuring sustainable growth and rural employment.
The Rashtriya Gokul Mission (Gokul Mission) is a part of the National Programme for Bovine Breeding and Dairy Development. It aims to conserve and develop indigenous cattle breeds through genetic improvement and better management. The mission promotes Gokul Grams (integrated cattle breeding centers), artificial insemination, and embryo transfer technology to enhance milk production and ensure the welfare of dairy farmers.
NABARD is India's apex development bank that provides financial support for agriculture and rural development. It offers loans, subsidies, and grants to farmers, rural enterprises, and cooperative banks to promote sustainable agriculture, rural infrastructure, and financial inclusion. NABARD also plays a key role in funding self-help groups (SHGs) and MSMEs to boost rural entrepreneurship.
These initiatives collectively contribute to strengthening India's livestock, dairy, and rural finance sectors, enhancing farmers' incomes, and promoting sustainable agricultural growth.
